DemandAT Project Workshop in EUI Fiesole, 11-13 November 2015

Workshop in EUI Fiesole

More than 65 people participated in this Workshop that brought together researchers, lawyers, and practitioners from several European countries to discuss the challenges in addressing trafficking for labour exploitation in the domestic work sector. The first part of the workshop focused on the Italian case (see presentation) discussing how Italy’s extended care work economy offers a potentially lucrative market for traffickers but also highlighting the important work done on the ground by associations and authorities in combatting this phenomenon. The second part of the workshop highlighted findings from our comparative investigation (see presentation) of seven EU countries (Belgium, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands and the UK). Even though EU countries have adopted important common tools to combat trafficking in all its forms, trafficking in the domestic work sector remains often undetected because of its location in the private home.
